Getting from here to there

Happy Fall, Reader,

As our lovely Planet Earth moves through space and seasons, so do we two-legged creatures.

It turns out that your movement from here to there can cause measurable imbalance, and the symptoms that go with this imbalance.

Let me explain:

Your spinal alignment is critical to your neurological and circulatory function. If you just look at what spinal and pelvic imbalance can do to your spinal and cranial nerves, it can:

  • give you low back, hip and leg pain

  • give you headaches and interfere with your sleep

  • throw your digestion and immunity into a tizzy

In my practice, I have used muscle testing to objectively measure your alignment–and to find out whether or not we have successfully restored your alignment.

BUT…There is a critical step which–if we miss it–can UNDO the good work we’ve accomplished.

Here’s how that happens. Our sensitive brains make note of EVERYTHING that happens to us. Your brain records every physical injury that happens to your body. And that includes…

Your feet and ankles. So if you step in a hole, or sprain your ankle, or drop something onto your foot, or someone steps on your foot while you’re dancing together, your brain can “freak out” and register FUTURE stimulation of your foot and ankle as BAD or NOT OK.

What does that look like when I test you for it? I can test your arm and find it fine. But, then, if I ask you to bend your foot up or down, point your foot, or put pressure on the front of your foot (forefoot) or heel, your arm/shoulder complex MAY dramatically weaken. If it does weaken, it means trouble!

If your muscles turn off when you push your foot into my floor when we’re working together in my office, this means that if you WALK, stand up from a sitting position, put your foot on your accelerator or gas pedal, climb a ladder, pedal your bicycle…or do something else that causes your foot to send an ALARM message to your brain, your spinal and pelvic muscles will also turn off.

SO, when you walk, drive, etc. your alignment starts to degrade!

I didn’t start looking for this problem until I got a “cosmic hint” that this could be a thing.

Not only is this “a thing.” It’s a COMMON thing. If we haven’t checked you for it, the odds that you have it on both sides of your body are probably about 75%. And the chances that you have it on one side of your body are even higher.

There’s got to be some good news, right? There is. We can RESET the connection between your feet and ankles and your brain so that the problem just plain vanishes!

Many people have already had chronic hip, knee, and even breathing problems improve just from getting this taken care of. If you aren’t the type of person to play Russian Roulette, I’d suggest you find out whether you have this problem. Even if you don’t, if it’s been a while, the odds are good that you could use a thorough checkup. I use a checklist.

Just call 713-955-4009 to set a time for us to check you.

Walking in the Fall and seeing you: Two of my favorite things to do.

If you or someone you know has problems that come back (how annoying?), I hope you’ll let me look you over soon.

Best wishes, either way.

Dr. Stuart
